Friday After 5 launches iPhone App

OWENSBORO, Ky – Finding out how the weekend begins in Owensboro just got a lot easier. Red Pixel Studios and Friday After 5 announced today that the Friday After 5 App is now available for free in the App Store. A product of Red Pixel Studios’ RPS | infoApp solution, the Friday After 5 App enables users to get information about the weekly summer-long series of free outdoor concerts on the Owensboro riverfront using their Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

“We wanted a practical and fun way to keep the region updated about the free summer series each week,” said Kirk Kirkpatrick, board member, Friday After 5. “The Friday After 5 App that Red Pixel Studios developed allows us to reach everyone in a timely and efficient way.”

Along with schedule information, the Friday After 5 App incorporates Apple’s push technology, allowing event organizers to communicate directly to users via Facebook. With push technology enabled, Friday After 5 App users receive a notification containing Friday after 5’s Facebook status updates.

“Friday After 5 is free summer-long concert series, so keeping fans updated on the bands, events, reunions and street fair events each week demands this technology,” said Kirkpatrick. “We know our patrons are seeking information about Friday After 5. Our Web site, also developed by Red Pixel Studios, gets more than half a million visits each season. We’re thrilled to offer another way to find out about our events.”

“By adding an iPhone App to their communications arsenal, Friday After 5 is now able to reach out to fans and followers in a direct and convenient way for the user,” said Eric Kyle, president, Red Pixel Studios. “It’s a more active means of communication than traditional media or even a traditional Web site.”

Communication is not just one-way. The Friday After 5 App enables users to provide comments to organizers from the event. “We love that we can get immediate feedback from attendees,” said Kirkpatrick.

Friday After 5 began in 1996 with four concerts and has grown to become a 16-week, summer-long signature event for the entire tri-state area hosting more than 50,000 visitors each season.
Recently named one of the “Top Ten Summer Festivals” in Kentucky, Friday After 5 begins before Memorial Day and continues every Friday through Labor Day weekend. The festival includes live bands, family events, food and entertainment each Friday After 5 until 10pm at the beautiful RiverPark Center overlooking the Ohio River.

All Friday After 5 events are free thanks to the generosity of local, regional and national sponsors. No reservations or tickets are required.

The Friday After 5 App features:
