Kentucky Tourism Council and KACVB Select Red Pixel Studios for iPhone Apps

OWENSBORO, KY – Kentucky Tourism Council and KACVB (Kentucky Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus) have teamed up with Red Pixel Studios to offer their member organizations a customized iPhone App.

Kentucky Tourism Council and KACVB selected Red Pixel Studios because of the ease and low cost with which the RPS | infoApp solution will enable their members to get their very own iPhone Apps. Kentucky’s tourism destinations will be able to extend their marketing reach with their own custom-branded Apps for the popular Apple iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices.

“RPS | infoApp is extremely flexible, allowing our members to have their own Apps that include vital information such as a directory of attractions and lodging, events calendars, location maps and more,” said Kay Berggren, president/CEO, Kentucky Tourism Council. “It also integrates with Facebook, Twitter and Blogger to keep users up-to-date through these popular social media tools. We see this as a very powerful tool for attracting visitors to Kentucky.”

Added Brian Dale, president, KACVB, “Our KACVB members were very impressed with the iPhone application that Red Pixel developed for the Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau. With the number of iPhones being sold worldwide approaching 50 million units, it makes sense for our KACVB members that want to stay on the leading edge of this technology.”

“We find that more and more of our visitors are traveling in their cars and that they want real-time information as they travel,” Dale said. “The iPhone application that Red Pixel Studios has developed allows us to provide that information in an efficient format that will allow visitors a very quick and yet detailed overview of a community that they are visiting with just a few taps on their iPhone. This technology is definitely allowing our visitors to have the ‘whole world in their hands.’”

Kentucky Tourism Council and KACVB are promoting the infoApp solution to their members with the hope that Kentucky destinations and attractions are well represented on iPhones and iPads. At a cost of only $1,200 for the first year and $600 per subsequent year, Berggren expects that many KTC members will soon be seen on the App Store. “Individual attractions, restaurants and hotels will now have the opportunity to attract new customers at great value,” says Berggren.

“We are pleased that Kentucky Tourism Council and KACVB recognize RPS | infoApp as the best solution for their members to have an App on iPhones and iPads,” said Jason Kyle, vice president, Red Pixel Studios. “We’re also excited about the opportunity to enhance Kentucky’s tourism efforts and bring visitors to our Commonwealth.”
